As presentations gained prominence in corporate life, marketers and brand experts began turning to story as a tool for persuasion and emotional impact. So much so, in fact, that many screenwriters from the film industry crossed over into the business scene. But let’s rewind further. Way further.

Storytelling didn’t begin with marketing decks. It’s been around since the first cave drawings (arguably the original PowerPoint slides). From epic poems to religious texts, much of human history was preserved through oral tradition—by telling stories, over and over. Culture is built on stories.
